Open Access Journal of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (OAJMAP) is an international, scholarly and peer-reviewed journal (online) published half-yearly by Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Association of India (MAPAI) which was founded in 2008. The Journal seeks to bridge and integrate the intellectual, methodological, and substantive diversity of agricultural scholarship, and to encourage a vigorous dialogue among agricultural scholars engaged in research on medicinal and aromatic plants. The Journal welcomes contributions which promote the exchange of ideas and rational discourse among agricultural researchers all over the world with respect to medicinal and aromatic plants. To this end the Journal publishes original articles concerned with the advance of research and use of medicinal and aromatic plants throughout the world. It publishes original scientific work related to medicinal and aromatic plants covering areas like botany, taxonomy, ecology, crop husbandry, crop protection, genetic improvement including molecular genetics, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and related areas as well as reviews of scientific topics of current agricultural relevance on medicinal and aromatic plants. The journal is published in English and provides free and open access to all of its content on our website. Accepted papers will immediately appear online in the relevant issue.

Specific topics of interest include: all aspects of botany, taxonomy, ecology, crop husbandry, crop protection, genetic improvement including molecular genetics, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and related areas. The journal also publishes book reviews and short communications.

Information for authors 

The manuscript should be original, and has not been published previously. Do not submit material that is currently being considered by another journal.

Manuscripts may be 3000-8000 words or longer if approved by the editor, including an abstract, texts, tables, footnotes, appendixes, and references. The title should be on page 1 and not exceed 15 words, and should be followed by an abstract of 100 – 200 words. 3-5 keywords or key phrases are required. The manuscript should be in MS Word format, submitted as an email attachment to our email address or else directly on the OAJMAP site.

Authors of the articles being accepted are required to sign a DECLARATION BY AUTHOR(S)/SPONSORING INSTITUTION as prescribed in Guidelines to Authors in OAJMAP site.

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under  Creative Commons (CC BY 3.0) that allows to copy, distribute and transmit the work.

Authors, who are non MAPAI members, are advised to donate Rs. 500/- or USD 25 to support the Open Access Movement of MAPAI upon acceptance of paper for publication in OAJMAP.

Peer review policy

Open Access Journal of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants is a refereed journal. All research articles in this journal undergo rigorous peer review. Initial screening by member of editorial board followed by further reviewing by two referees is the usual procedure.

Editorial Procedures

All papers considered appropriate for this journal are reviewed by outside reviewers. The Editor-in-chief reserves the right to make any necessary changes in the papers, or request the author to do so, or reject the paper . A copy of the edited paper along with the first proofs will be sent to the author for proof reading. They should be corrected and returned to the Editor within seven days. Once the final version of the paper has been accepted, authors are requested not to make further changes to the text.

As  Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) says tha to fully realise the potential of open access to research literature, barriers to reuse need to be removed. The Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Association of India (MAPAI) uses CC-BY license for its journal Open Access Journal of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (OAJMAP). The BOAI10 Expert Group on Open Access also recommends CC BY as the preferred license for open access publications.
